And so I begin week 5 of unemployment (although, to be honest, the first two don’t count because it was holiday time and no one interviews/hired on December 29th). Also, I got paid two days ago so it’s really as if I’ve been on vacation this whole time which is nice. I’m beginning to get seriously depressed with sitting around and tweeting, job searching, going to the gym everyday. It’s a very boring routine that I’ve got these days… Some days I bake or make some weird new recipe, but mostly I watch Maury.

Fun picture of the week

This week’s fun picture comes to us from Duolingo, an awesome website/app that my friend and I are hooked to. A phrase was said and I had to write it in German. I heard the phrase and was completely confused. Could it be saying what I think it was saying?

I think that it’s been a month since I’ve done this so bear with me please!

eemusings always writes the most eloquent posts. Here’s one where she summarized my struggle with life vs travel perfectly

Nelson posted the cover letter to his application to be the next Governor of the Bank of Canada. Seeing as I wanted an “I heart Mark Carney” t-shirt, his winning could put me in an awkward position.

Country Girl discusses the different ways that introverts and extroverts manage their money. While I’ve been told time and time again that I am an extrovert, I maintain that I am introverted and this post was spot on.

Erin writes about how working in McDonald’s would have been better than her job as a medical receptionist

Michelle gives tips on becoming a freelancer. Unfortunately, I fear that, for at least the next while, her suggestions will be inundated with bloggers trying to become freelancers :/

One of my newest favourite blogs (oddly enough) posted The Rules of Always Being a Gentleman

Marissa argues that you should run your blog like a start-up if you want it to be successful

TeacHer Finance worries about not having anything to show for it

Lauren wrote about how lifestyles blogs might be causing the jealousies among the blogging community and also some financial lessons from Downton Abbey. While I don’t watch the show, I noticed that MSN posted a very similar article a few days later. Coincidence??

Cait tallied up the costs of being a bridesmaid and made me glad that I don’t have friends who will have big weddings :D

Aloysa gave reasons for not being so cheap and reasons why woman might prefer older men

Joe wrote about legalizing marijuana. I had never drawn the connection between marijuana’s illegality and American Prohibition and this is a delightful read.

I actually can’t believe that the New York Times wrote such a horrible piece about personal finance tips. Holly sums up my sentiments.

Paula saved her entire income last year. I’m in awe.
